Bar feels so good to move. Totally revitalised my bench and thoroughly enjoying it. Also as a home PT clients are enjoying the new gadget that most gyms don't seem to have. So for novelty and top bar quality - I rate this bar 5 white lights.
You can squat heavy with this barbell with no elbow tendonitis or shoulder impingement that can be so painful, it stops you working out. Also love the black oxide coating along with the knurling not being too rough against your gym shirts. You will need to take some weight off compared to a standard olympic barbell because this barbell is not only heavier, but also is harder to balance given the bend in the barbell of the weight you lift. I have nothing bad to say about this barbell. It is a lovely item, and I'm back to enjoying my squats and workouts pain free again.
Great bar,always my go to for squats. I prefer this over power bar for my lack of mobility
Overall the build quality of the bar is excellent. The black oxide is comparable to that of an ABC bar while the sleeves are really well machined, fit well and spin freely (but not too freely!).
The 32mm shaft is a really nice size to work with, being the same diameter as a Texas squat bar and between squat bars used by the IDF (Eleiko @ 29mm) and GPC (Sportskraft @ 35mm).
The knurling is definitely on the milder side so if you're used to a cheese grater you'll notice a difference. This is a non-issue bench pressing (mainly what I'll be using it for) or squatting high bar, but if you're a slimmer lifter you may run into issues with low bar squatting.
The only peculiarity is that the rings on the bar are ~130cm apart vs the powerlifting standard 81cm. I suspect when the bar was designed they've measured the distance from the sleeves in as opposed to the middle out (though haven't bothered to measure to check) but they more or less line up with j hooks so not overly usefully for setting your grip. Not a deal breaker by any stretch of the imagination and if it's really bugging you then just slap some electrical tape where the rings would normally be. Just thought it was a bit . . . odd.
Overall though I'd definitely recommend this bar if you're in the market for a bow/buffalo bar as the value for money is going to be significantly greater than alternatives on the market.
