When the team behind Synergy Rx set out to create their facility in North Wyong, they weren’t interested in building another gym. They wanted to create something that genuinely helped people find their own path to better health.
That vision became the foundation of Synergy Rx and its guiding philosophy: “Your Prescription For Longevity.”
Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach to fitness, Synergy Rx brings together functional fitness, strength training, pilates, recovery services, ice baths, infrared sauna sessions, personal training and even child minding. Every part of the facility was designed around the idea that health looks different for everyone.
As Abbey Russell, Synergy Rx Co-Owner, explains: “We help you find what works for you, not the person next to you."
Creating such a diverse facility came with its own challenges. Every square metre needs to work hard. The equipment had to be versatile, commercial-grade, and capable of serving a wide range of members without overcrowding the floor. Like many boutique gym owners, the Synergy Rx team needed to balance quality, efficiency and budget, while also bringing a brand-new facility to life within a tight timeframe.
That’s where VERVE came in. From the early planning stages, the focus wasn’t simply on choosing equipment. It was about creating a facility that would support the member experience from day one.
Using 3D facility design and walkthroughs, the Synergy Rx team could visualise the entire gym before installation even began. This allowed equipment placement, traffic flow and training zones to be carefully planned long before the doors opened.
For anyone considering opening their own facility, this planning phase is often one of the most overlooked parts of a successful fitout. A gym can have excellent equipment, but if the layout doesn’t support how members move and train, valuable space can quickly be lost. By mapping everything out beforehand, Synergy Rx was able to maximise functionality without sacrificing the open and welcoming environment they envisioned.
One piece of equipment stood out during the Synergy Rx fitout: the Tori Functional Trainer Rack.
For boutique facilities, space is one of the most valuable assets. Every machine needs to justify its footprint, which is why multifunctional equipment plays such an important role in modern gym design. The Tori combines several key training stations into one system, including a functional trainer, squat rack, smith machine and pull-up station. This allows members to perform a huge variety of exercises without moving across multiple pieces of equipment.
For gym owners, this means greater training versatility, improved space efficiency and a better member experience.
