Chalk is an absolutely necessity in the gym wherever grip strength is involved. When applied to the hands, chalk will dry up any moisture allowing for maximum friction between you and the bar.

Chalk can also be used on the clothes or equipment of a lifter. By absorbing the moisture between a lifters back/shirt and a flat bench for example, will allow for more purchase on the bench surface for increased tightness in the rep.
